Finishing ‘Battle Hymns…’

Finished mastering the album on Friday. All in all, I’m happy with the results. It’s loud, but I definitely didn’t crush it to oblivion. There’s still dynamics, especially for a rock album. The balance is good too — I A/B’d it against a number of records, and though there’s not as much bass as compared to more modern albums, I think it represents us well.

For now, we’re going to make a 3-song sampler CD to give away that contains two album songs (“Empire of the Sun” and “The Idiot”) and one soon-to-be-recorded acoustic track. The full length is available for purchase from our myspace page, and once we get the artwork completed it will be be available on iTunes and there will (probably) be a short run of CDs made.
